Meet The Founder
From care assistant to Registered Manager - and the reason I created FirstHello.
My name is Beth, and social care has shaped a large part of my working life.
I began my career as a care assistant, supporting people within a care home and learning first-hand that good care is about far more than completing a list of tasks. It is about listening , noticing the small things, respecting someone's choices and building the kind of trust that helps a person feel safe and valued.
Over the years, I worked my way through different roles within the care sector, eventually becoming a CQC Registered Manager. That journey gave me experience at every level of care - from providing support directly to individuals and families, to leading teams, overseeing quality and safeguarding, managing multiple services and carrying responsibility for the care that people received.
I have seen the difference that the right carer can make.
I have also seen how difficult it can be for families to find that person.
Families are often looking for support during an already emotional or overwhelming time. They may not know where to begin, what questions to ask or how to find someone who has the right experience, availability and personality for their loved one.
At the same time, there are many skilled and compassionate independent carers who want to provide high-quality, personalised support while remaining in control of their own work. Yet being visible to the right families and building a sustainable independent business can be challening.
That is why I have created FirstHello.
FirstHello is designed to help families and independent carers find one another more easily, communicate directly and begin building a relationship based on choice, transparency and trust.
My experience has taught me that qualifications and experience matter, but care is deeply personal. The right match is not only about what support someone can provide. It is also about how they communicate, whether values align and whether the person receiving the care feels comfortable with them.
FirstHello is not about removing the human side of care. It is about making that first introduction easier in order to build beautiful, working relationships.
I am building the kind of platform that I believe families and carers deserve; one that respects independent professionals, gives families back the power to make their own decisions & choices and keeps meaningful relationships at the heart of care.
Because every trusted relationship starts with that first hello!
